Becoming a Beautician...

I finally started beauty school this past Tuesday (9.21.10). I have been thinking about going for several years now and I finally went through with my dream. I completed my bachelors this past winter and taught elementary health and physical education this past spring. After spending a full semester of being completely miserable in my profession I decided to make a move and go with my dream; it took a lot of prayer and a few long discussions with Rusty before the decision was final.

So here I am, after completing one week, I am sure this is what I want to do! I love waking up in the mornings now...it makes a huge difference when you are doing what you love to do and what you have a passion for. I am not saying I won't ever have a bad day or that I will never not want to go to work. I just know that this is me and what I love to do. I get a thrill out of making people pretty :) Kind of like Rusty gets a thrill out of designing "poop plants". (Rusty would want me to clarify this last statement...he is an environmental/biological engineer for an engineering firm and the technical term for "poop plant" is water and waste water plants).

As I go throughout my journey of cosmetology school, I will post updates of what I have learned. So far I have learned how to give a manicure, pedicure, facial, wax, and just today we learned how to do a variety of braids and up dos! Yes, I learned all this in one week! And, the awesome thing about all this is that I have received all of these services :) My feet and hands are now well manicured and the facial was phenomenal... and yes, I received my very first eyebrow waxing. ha ha

I had to post a few pictures of my friends I met this week! LOL They have real human hair and real dead louse (lice). THEY ARE DEAD. This first manican is named Debra. I practiced braids and up dos today on this chick today!

Now this dude I named Jesus. See the resemblance? According to illustrations of the Bible this is what they make Jesus out to be. He has so much facial hair and as a result I haven't even lifted up his beard to see what his name is...But I like Jesus...
This chick on the end is named Bridgette...

Next week we are going to be learning how to cut! Watch for posts on this...
